Schioppettino Ermacora 2012 has won over the palates of New Yorkers. A great success for the grand tasting of “The Wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia” at Eataly in the evening of May, 5th 2016. Five wines have been chosen for the tasting among the 32 different labels from Friuli available in the finest Italian gourmet market of the US, and our Schioppettino Ermacora was presented as one of the most powerful examples of red winemaking of our region.
Our red wine was perfectly paired with a pork shoulder goulash accompanied by traditional polenta, a rich and slightly spicy dish that allowed the wine to fully express its distinctive traits. Schioppettino is an indigenous red grape variety grown in the rich mineral clay soil of Colli Orientali del Friuli since hundredths of years, thus becoming one of the most prominent red wines produced in the area.
Friuli will be showcased through its exquisite wines and traditional foods at Eataly in New York and Chicago until June with additional tastings and events. A total of 58 companies of the food and wine industry of Friuli have taken part to this mission in the United States organized by the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
