REFOSCO DAL PEDUNCOLO ROSSO - 2019
A worthy ambassador of the native Friulian vines, the Refosco dal peduncolo rosso owes its name to the scarlet colour of the pedicel, the vegetable portion that holds the grape on the stalk. Its presence in the region dates to 1452 when there is documental evidence of the local consumption of a wine called Refosco. Other papers anticipate its presence by over a century by describing a red wine called Teran (Refosco d’Istria). However, at that time the varieties were not catalogued and people would use the word Teran to name any local red wine.
